How to install and activate an Expert Advisor in MetaTrader 5

An Expert Advisor (EA) is a program that runs inside MetaTrader 5 and places trades by fixed rules. Installing one takes about five minutes. Here is every step, including the license check our EAs use.

1. Copy the EA file into MT5

In MT5, open File → Open Data Folder, then go to MQL5/Experts and paste the .ex5 file you received. Go back to MT5 and right-click Expert Advisors in the Navigator, then choose Refresh (or restart MT5).

2. Allow algorithmic trading and the license URL

Open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors and set:

☑ Allow WebRequest for listed URL:

https://license.techvistasolutions.in

Why WebRequest? The EA checks your license with our server when it starts. Without this URL in the list, it will not activate.

Also make sure the Algo Trading button on the top toolbar is green.

3. Attach the EA to a chart

Open the chart named in your setup guide — for example XAUUSD, M15. Drag the EA from the Navigator onto the chart. On the Common tab tick Allow Algo Trading; on the Inputs tab paste your license key and keep the risk settings from your setup sheet. Press OK.

4. Check it’s running

A small blue hat icon appears at the top-right of the chart, and the Experts tab in the Toolbox shows that the license is valid. If you see a red error or a sad face icon, take a screenshot of the Experts tab and send it to us on WhatsApp — most issues are a missing WebRequest URL or a wrong account number.

Remember: MT5 has to stay open for the EA to trade. That is why every license includes setup on a VPS that runs 24/5.
